Submission Guidelines
Please sign up to the World Childless Week newsletter to hear about everything happening this year.
The deadline for submissions has already passed.
If you send in a submission now I cannot guarantee it will be included in World Childless Week 2023, but I promise to get back in touch.
World Childless Week welcomes submissions of all descriptions: written word, poem, song, dance, painting, sculpture, photography etc. If you submit a written article we suggest 800-1000 words, however don’t be put off if your article is longer or shorter as we’d still love to hear from you.
Whilst every submission is checked to ensure it falls within the ethos of World Childless Week and the scheduled daily topics, your grammar, spelling and vocabulary are not under scrutiny. If you’re new to World Childless Week or it’s the first time you are sending in a submission and would like to know a little more, please read: What is a Submission and where does it go?
PLEASE NOTE: Sending in a submission does not guarantee it will be included during World Childless Week.
BEFORE YOU SEND YOUR SUBMISSION
Have you provided a title for your submission?
Please do not use the daily topic, instead suggest something unique that relates to your submission.
Have you made it clear exactly how you wish to be credited?
You can use your full name, first name, initials, an alias or be Anonymous etc. The choice is entirely yours.
Every submission needs an image, have you provided one?
(a) If you have sent your own, please make this clear.
(b) If you want me to choose one for you, please make this clear.
(c) If you have taken an image from the internet, it must be copyright free. You can find copyright free images here: Unsplash, Pixabay or Pexels. Please provide the link to the photo, eg: https://unsplash.com/photos/OD9EOzfSOh0
Please don’t include a photo within a text document as I am unable to copy it to the website.
Does your submission fit under one of the daily topics?
If you are not sure, click on the following links for a reminder: Our Stories, Childless Stepparent, A Letter to the Person who Hurt Me the Most, Childless in the Media, You’re So Lucky to not have Kids, We Are Worthy and Moving Forwards.
If your files are large then you can use We Transfer which has a free option for files up to 2GB and email Steph directly.
References and links to websites, social media pages and products for sale will not be included unless you have taken out an I Am Worthy or Forget Me Not advertising package. NB: This applies to one submission.
ONCE YOU HAVE SENT YOUR SUBMISSION
The period upto World Childless Week is extremely busy and Steph will confirm receipt of your submission as soon as she can from: Steph, World Childless Week: stephwcw@hotmail.com
If you have not heard back after 10 days (don’t forget to check your junk mail folder) please get back in touch.
If Steph has any questions with your submission or points 1 - 4 above she will address these in her initial email.
If Steph does not hear back from you regarding any questions she has raised, she will credit your submission as anonymous and choose a title and image for you.
FINAL NOTE
To give every submission the opportunity to be seen, they are scheduled on the website across the full day. As such they do not all appear at the same time. Please be patient.
