Near And Far

Sometimes

I catch them out of the corner of my eye.

The little boy and little girl

who were just on the other side of the veil

waiting

and wanting

to come into this world.

I tried to reach them

hug them

welcome them

but I could not.

My failure cost me my connections

with the past generations

who were eagerly waiting for the new arrivals.

My failure cost me my future

and the generations to come

that would make me a part of the river and flow of life.
