Schrödinger’s Scan

Kate Marsh

In those two weeks we were

well rested zombies who ate

mac and cheese on china and

chocolate ice cream on white couches.

They called us the wealthiest paupers

so we bought

zoo tickets for two and drank

Minnie’s best cocktails.

We were idle hustlers who visited

water parks and never got wet and

the movies and skipped popcorn.

Outside our house

the leaves were piled and still

the snow packable and pristine.

And there we sat in our perfect disarray

our quiet din

and we promised each other

to respect your privacy.
