Live Chanting Circle focussing on Flow and movement within. Welcome sisters. You will be in the circle with loving brave women. The Chanting Circle is a somatic, inbody practice to open up the body and connect with our voices more fully. We chant affirmations set to music and drums. Breathwork and relaxation. Chants are written especially for the women of the childless community.
The Circle can be a powerful experience at times and different for us. We can experience emotional shifting. We will have relaxation time at the end.
This workshop is being hosted by Helen Louise Jones of Our Healing Voice
DATE: Sunday 18th September
TIME: 4.00-6.00pmBST Find your time zone here NB. This workshop is 2 hours long

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
Eat around 90 mins before , so you are nourished but not full , do not chant on an empty stomach as your breathing will make you lightheaded.
Have a glass of water at room temperature (no ice) or a warm drink, ie. herbal tea. Sip (don’t gulp) regularly to keep your throat lubricated. No dairy milk as it creates mucus and concentrated fruit juices can affect the throat. *I like to have warm water with a little dissolved honey.
Wear something comfortable, no restrictive upper body wear or around the waist
Sit on a yoga mat or rug support your lower back with cushions. Or on a supportive chair where you can sit upright with your feet on the floor and can move your arms freely. Do not sit on a swivel chair or one with wheels. If you have a condition that means you need to lie down, please do so.
It’s not necessary to sit close to the screen, find a place slightly away where you can still see me.
Zoom: Set the screen to see everyone or just myself. Be on or off camera yourself. Your sound will be muted when you enter. No one can hear you chanting, not even me.
Print or write out the lyrics - we won't chant them all.
If you have a very bright light in the room, lower the glare or turn it of … shut the blinds from sun etc ( this avoids distraction on the screen for everyone)
You may feel you want to light a candle to honour your heart and your life journey, or in remembrance.
Please make sure you won't be interrupted and are by yourself in a quiet place, we are a safe nurturing space for all attending.
Bring a couple of tissues. Every day, every chant and every breath is different and can potentially find, open and shift deep emotional blocks.
During
Be gentle with yourself .This is not a performance, it’s the opening of your body to fuller sound. Breathe smoothly with a little effort to gain a natural momentum to your breathing on the inhale. Gently extend the exhale. Do what you can, without pressure to the throat, gradually feeling the lyrics and rhythmic patterns within you. Allow your voice to slowly emerge naturally. If you don’t sing at all or have been silenced by trauma, the throat may be very tight. Don’t push it, you can always hum softly instead, nothing is instant in any practice. After a few sessions the muscles will warm and loosen. If your throat does become sore, or you get very tired, please stop, relax in natural constant breathing and be present with the chants in your head, your breath is always with you. Allow your breath to relax into the music and perform its magic to give you this precious self care time. It is normal to yawn, don't stop it happening. If you need to leave, please feel free to do so. Better to email me after as we very rarely use the chat during the session as it interrupts the flow. However there is an opportunity at the start and the end to use it. We maintain a sense of calm on screen, however we stretch and use movement in our upper body. If you do need move alot or get up, please go off camera while you do. For our final relaxation, you can lie down and cover yourself with a blanket.
After the Circle
Make a warm drink with honey to help soothe your throat. You should be able to get a good night's sleep. I can’t endorse a salt water gargle enough, followed by half a tsp of honey dripped onto the vocal cords immediately before sleeping.
