Life has taken an unexpected turn. You and I will not have the children we imagined, talked about together. Dreamed of. Our life will not take the course we had planned.
The path everyone expected for us. The path laid out for us by the world.
We have grieved and cried. Held each other up. And now we step forward.Not over it, but around it.
We have lost something vital to our hearts and souls, something we never even got to have. A loss without a having. Where can all of that confused heartache go?
But look, my dear, at what we have. Look at what we are creating in this hole we thought at first was black. Now we know it is a colourful kaleidoscope of hope and possibility.
We are in it together.
Always have been, always will be.
Every day is an adventure as we create this unexpected life, full of love, together.
We lost a family we never even had. But we learnt that we were a family all along.
