In the Absence

Mina Sedgman

In the moments of absence, where hopeful dreams once glistened long ago, A hollow echo lingers, a silent melody of what could have been.
The cradle of hope, empty, yet filled with the weight of longing, Each tear a testament to the love that never found its earthly form.

Grief, a shadow that lingers in the corners of my heart, stinging me at the most unexpected times, A relentless tide that ebbs and flows, untethered.
Yet, in this sea of sorrow, I find islands of solace, Moments of light that pierce the veil of despair.

Acceptance, a gentle presence that guides me through the turbulent storm, Teaching me to find beauty in the spaces between.

In the love of my partner, the laughter of friends, the kindness of family, the cuddles of my dogs, The simple joy of a cup of tea in silence.

I gather these fragments, these small, precious things, And weave them into a tapestry of resilience.
For in the quiet of absence, I remember my worthiness, A life rich with the love I give and receive, And with the melody of a joyful orchestra, I come to life.
