Workshop leaders: Annie Kirby, Writer and Meriel Whale, Writer and Counsellor
We started Words That Heart because we both found writing to be incredibly valuable in helping us heal and come to terms with being childless-not-by-choice. We wanted to support other childless-not-by-choice people to explore writing in a safe and supportive environment alongside other childless-not-by-choice people.
Please join us to find out how writing for wellbeing can help you as you move forward from the grief of childlessness and to be introduced to some techniques to help you get started with writing for wellbeing.
Our webinar is designed for writers at all levels, from complete beginners to experienced writers.
Please don’t worry if you don’t feel creative, as the exercises will have a wellbeing focus and will be carefully designed to ensure they are accessible for all. We recommend using pen and paper for the writing activities, but if you prefer or need to use a device that’s absolutely fine.
It’s not compulsory, but in the week leading up to the workshop, you may wish to jot down some things that have brought you happiness over the course of the week, whether this is the sound of birdsong, finding an unusual pebble on the beach or catching up with a friend for a socially-distanced coffee. Whatever brings you a glimmer or joy or happiness. (If you can’t think of anything or don’t feel comfortable doing this, that’s fine).
If possible, please bring an object to the webinar - one that has positive associations for you and makes you feel happy and good about yourself, preferably something you can hold in your hand(s). Examples might include a craft piece (made by yourself or someone else), a pet's toy, an item of jewellery with happy memories. You really can choose anything you like, so long it has a happy and positive association for you.
