One aspect of my loss is not being able to share my favourite books with my child: introducing them to new books, reading aloud to them and choosing books for birthdays and Christmas. This was a big part of my childhood and I had started a collection of books for my adopted child. I now plan to give these to my god daughter, but lovely as this is, it is not the same.
