Guided meditation

This is your time.
Take a moment to make sure that you are comfortably seated or lying down.
Let your hands rest loosely where they’ve landed.
Close your eyes if you haven’t already done so..

Take a long slow, deep breath in...hold it for a moment, and then slowly exhale.
Allow any tension to melt away as you gradually begin to relax.
Take another long slow, deep breath in...hold it, and then exhale.
Take a third deep breath in. Take your time. Hold it for a moment, and then let it go.

Now bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Sense or imagine a warm glow of relaxation beginning to spread down from the top of your scalp....
Let the muscles in your forehead and temples relax.
Allow the tiny muscles around your eyes to relax.
Let your cheeks and jaw soften.
Feel the relaxation move down your neck and into your shoulders.
Now the warm glow flows through your arms...all the way to the tips of your fingers.
As your body relaxes, your mind relaxes.
Now feel your chest and your stomach relax.
Feel how this area gently rises and falls as you breathe...slowly and deeply.
Turn your attention to your back, and feel the relaxing glow flow all the way down your spine.
Now the peaceful feeling flows through your lower body.
Relax your abdomen, your bum...the back of your thighs...the front of your thighs.
The relaxation moves through your knees, and your calves.
Your ankles relax. Now your feet relax.
Your entire body is soft, calm and relaxed.

In your mind’s eye, see the whole Earth.
See her blues and white against the black of space.
She is our everything.

Find yourself in a place that calls to you today.
Forest, beach, mountains, desert, meadow.
Someplace peaceful that nourishes you.
It might be a place you know well or somewhere you’ve never actually been.
Be there now.
You are dressed perfectly to be comfortable wherever you are.
You are safe.
Feel the temperature around you.
Notice the ground beneath you.
Feel Earth supporting you in this place.
Soak up the goodness of this spot into the core of your being.
What does Earth tell you as she supports you?
Allow your inner Self to be nourished here.


Now notice a path nearby and being to walk along it.
After walking a ways you come upon a wise elder.
Someone you know or an elder from history or fiction or your imagination.
Pause a moment to be with them.
You are safe and at ease with one another.
Feel the peace and wisdom that they radiate.

If you have a specific question, ask it now and listen for their response.
If you don’t have a question, listen for their wisdom offering.
If you feel led, dialogue with them, or simply absorb their original message.

Now the elder tells you that you a choice.
You can walk back the way you came.
Or you can continue in the direction you were going.
Or maybe other paths appear, branching off your original path.
Or you can make a new path where there has been none.
Which path calls to you today?
Trust your inner knowing.
Know that that is your right way.
Feel a glimmering of what is down that path for you.

Now it’s time for you to come back from this place.
The elder has a final gift for you.
Perhaps they put something in your hand,
Perhaps they speak a single word.
Take a moment to take in what they have given you.

Express your gratitude to the elder.
Prepare to leave this place of paths.

Start returning towards the room you’re in.
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
When you’re ready, open your eyes and return to the present.
