Some wonderful news that needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. Thank you Sam for speaking out and making a difference.
I attended the Diversity Council of Australia's webinar on Childlessness in the Workplace, which Michael, Sarah, Judy and Liz attended as presenters and advocates on behalf of all of us. When the DCA calendar first came out, World Childless Week was missing, so I wrote them and asked if they would consider including it.
After the many struggles the childless community has faced (and continues to face) to simply be acknowledged, I was very surprised, to be honest, when they agreed to include WCW and re-issue the calendar.
It's sad (but very telling) that we can become so accustomed to hearing "no", or "it's not a priority", but I'm so excited that we got a big resounding YES on this occasion. It's great to see a peak body leading the way.
The DCA has reach, and like you, I'm buoyed by the hope that even if just one person can feel seen and acknowledged through this small but very significant step, then the hard work of everyone who advocates in this space has been worth it."
