I AM WORTHY

I am worthy.

  • Realising my worth has been gradual. It started as a whisper.

  • Now it’s a clear voice. Not yet a roar! Well, occasionally!!

  • I can see that other childless people are worthy. I don’t doubt that. It’s taken time however to recognise my own worth.

  • Society (that I live in) tells us that worth is attached to parenthood status, relationship status, health and productivity. I am childless, single and unable to work due to chronic ill health, so realising my worth has been gradual and at times hard.

  • I am worthy because I exist. I am a human being and I am here to be.

  • Having children would have been a different experience, however, my worth remains the same no matter what my life experience is.

I enjoy making pictures using a creative app on my phone.

I like watching some TV shows that have advertising breaks. Adverts are so ‘family’ focussed. They nearly all involve couples with children. If there are any older people, there’s usually grandchildren around. I find this annoying and frustrating sometimes. Family does not = children!! So, during ad breaks, I started to play around with making pictures!

It’s also something I can do when I’m housebound with chronic illness. I can create pictures whilst in bed, if symptoms allow. Making pictures is a way of:

  • Creatively expressing and sharing my childless experience.

  • Connecting with other childless people on social media.

  • Supporting and being supported by other childless people.

  • Affirming other childless peoples’ worth.

  • Affirming my own worth.

We are worthy.
