Don’t ask “why no children”, it’s too late, it’s too soon.
Some dreams turn to dust, when the blood leaves your womb
I’ll have no daughter, to raise, love or hold,
Nor do my friends, as we grow old.
First college, then work, to pay off those loans,
Then working long hours – the price of new homes!
I wanted a home, to hear tiny feet
Now hot flushes have started, so we’ll never meet.
Be careful of seeing your real dreams slip by,
There’s never a “right time”, and short time to try.
Time moves so quickly, you blink and its gone,
So why waste it working all the day long?
Working the weekends, the overtime shifts,
Plans and dates cancelled, opportunities missed.
Spending time stressing, working for pay,
Watching the clock for the end of the day.
Bosses won’t thank you, nor care when you’re old,
There on your own in a house that feels cold.
Fill it with laughter, fill it with love,
Fill it with gifts from God up above.
What now, what future, a life to remake,
What new dreams to aim for, what lessons to take?
Some nights are spent thinking, of dreams, of the past…
But life is for living and time goes so fast.
So, I think of the present (the future’s too far),
Life is in the moment, living days as they are.
A circle of friends, the comfort of home,
The songs of the sea, and some songs of my own.
