The nursery, the office,
the room that was never meant to be.
Untouched and unloved, holding shattered dreams,
of the child that never came to you and me.
Those hopeful drawers we bought while pregnant:
nappies folded neatly, baby grows below, a changing mat above,
waiting for the little one we longed to hold and love.
Then lockdown came;
days drifted into months,
working from home within those purple walls.
More IVF, more heartbreak, more hope,
enduring a life we never chose at all.
Then came our travels.
Returning home, I found new courage in my heart.
A green sanctuary, where nature gently soothed
the broken places that had fallen apart.
A space to breathe,
to think,
to rest,
to dream;
no longer a room defined by what had never been.
A space to create a new life,
and slowly, a new me.
Wrapped in green light, in quiet healing energy,
I finally let go and ask myself:
Who do I want to be?
