One rule for mothers and another for the childless!

I work in a predominantly female environment so have always worked with mothers without too much of an issue.

Yes I got frustrated when someone goes off yet again with “child care issues” or their child is sent home from school unwell and is readily given carers leave while the rest of us have to do their work as well as ours.

Yes I got frustrated when the mothers all request not to work Christmas but being childless I have offered to do the shifts they didn’t want to do so they could be with their children.

BUT:

*When work over runs past finish time the mother is asked by the manager if she is ok to stay late or does she need to get home to her child whilst I am not asked and it is presumed I will work late and have no commitments.

* When a mother is late to work leaving me on my own with the workload because her child needed to be driven the 5 minute walk to school as she had a sore back due to carrying school books.

* When a mother is late to work again leaving me alone with the workload as her child’s lunch took 40 minutes to make that morning.

* When my mother was terminally ill and needed care, I was asked why I needed to spend time with her and couldn’t I get someone else to look after her so I could work and was not given any carers leave

THEN I GET ANGRY!!!!
