On this path..

Aw

I meet you time and time again

The shingle stones beneath our feet

I turn the corner and you are there

Your black cardigan wrapped tightly around you

bound tightly to your chest

the changeable wind messing with your hair.

Every turn

Every wave

Every call

Hello ambivalence!

Good to see you and know you still care…

Or do you even notice when I am not there?

We greet, we meet, we exchange pleasantries with a warm knowing smile

I wave you on…”Goodbye! See you again in a while.”

The path crunches on

The pines stand tall.

I see you there crouching and shivering

Your face to the wall

“Don’t look at me” you tremble

“I am nothing..no one at all”

You look sad

I surrender

I offer you a hand up from the floor

“No! Leave me” you say “this is my home. I am not worth it all”

I carry your sad vignette like a heavy stone from a broken wall

The path leads me on…I follow it now at a crawl

Mania comes next – like the fool about to fall

Oblivious and loud – “There is nothing to see here at all!”

We jest and we fumble

Funny shoes make us fall

The laughter contagious

Drowning out what came before

The energy is exhausting but the gaiety is the ALL

For a moment of suspension

How the mighty do fall

But there is pain in that chuckle – it frightens me

Life can’t only simply always be a ball?

The path winds on.. I feel the thrill of them all

Friends, soldiers, parts of me

Familiar companions and dangerous peers

one for me … and one for all!

This path has its visitors _ I can see that clearly now

With a precious single silken solitary red thread that runs through it all.
