The following research has been approved by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Hull
My name is Morgan Eldridge, I am a trainee Clinical Psychologist at the University of Hull. I am currently creating my research exploring women's experiences of stigma around living with involuntary childlessness following unsuccessful IVF. The aim of this is to give a voice to women's lived experiences.
My interest stems from hearing about family members and friends’ experiences of IVF and the impact it has had on their lives – both positive and negatives.
I have heard and read about the lack of psychological support offered to women after unsuccessful IVF and I am keen to give a voice to these experiences.
I am hopeful that this research may contribute to informing the support that is offered by services in the future.
I currently do not have children, although I have not yet tried to conceive. My experience will therefore be very different, but I am keen to provide a safe space for women to share their stories.
As a participant:
You will be required to complete an online interview (via Microsoft Teams) that will last between 1-2 hours.
This will follow a semi-structured interview approach. This means that there will be a few broad questions that ask about your experience of IVF, what it was like after your final round of IVF, and your experience of living without children.
You will not have to share anything that you do not feel comfortable sharing, and the interview will be predominately guided by you.
Data collected in this study will be kept confidential and named using a pseudonym (anonymous code name). This pseudonym will be used in the final report, and you will not be identifiable. All data will be stored digitally on an encrypted NHS laptop and only the research team will have access to these files.
