Janine
She smiles at me,
sunlight reflected in her
eyes, skin shining with
the glow given to most
newborns. She giggles
and any concerns I have
melt away with the love filling
my heart. I miss her so much I
cannot begin to say. The splitting in
two of my heart, barely to beat again, the
slowing movement of blood and bone, redundant
DNA, reducing to nothing in front of pacifying
screens, wasting, wasted, unwanted.
It barely matters I was never able to
conceive. The daughter I could
never have, was the most beautiful
baby never
born.
