Do You Know

I was inspired to write a song when I heard the following comment on a radio talk show.

You don’t fully understand your capacity to love until you have kids.

It had me wondering about those of us who don’t have kids. What does it say about our capacity to love? This song is my response.

Do You Know

Do you know just what you’re sayin’?

That I just won’t know the other part of life and love that’s in your heart.

Did I get it?

Are you sayin’ my love is halfway?

And the space that I will always know falls short of what you claim is gold.

Is that it?

Don’t dismiss my love is rich

Spun up from the tears that dripped into my soul for years

It’s my story

But does it count as anything

Without the piece you proudly claim

Is your glory?

Do you know just what I’m sayin’?

That the love I have, so much to give

Is just as real and just as big

Do you get it?
