Christmas, you want Christmas off?

that need to go to Santa’s grotto
or Christmas parties or illuminations
You just want it off?
We thought you would be working as usual
So that normal families could be doing
normal wholesome regular family stuff
And you have to be difficult
and take the time off yourself
because you fancy it?

Because I still have a family
I still have plans
I still want to do stupid overpriced holiday things
And….
You know what….
Mind your own business and stay in your own lane
I still have the right to all that normal family stuff
With the family I have made
And that family may not look like yours
But we are still a family
And we can go on escapades and adventures
And sun-drenched package holidays
And we can do matching pyjamas
and Christmas silliness
Because my family matters
Just as much as yours
