Rainbows in windows mock me and I am

eyes down red enraged salty tears misting

but I cool in the warmth of the sun and

I am burnt cinnamon orange drifting

above the cracks in the pavement leaking

my shameful yellow-bellied cowardice

from the crack in my heart where I’m bleeding

green tendrils of love for the child I’ll miss

forever though she never existed

choking stems crushing me turning me blue

like a bruise like grief the branches twisting

around my indigo soul floating through

violet plumes of hope finally I see

all I need are the rainbows inside me.
