My experience of miscarriage changed the course of my life. Alongside the grief of multiple pregnancy losses after undergoing numerous IVF cycles, there came another reality that’s rarely acknowledged: navigating life without children permanently after pregnancy loss.
Much of the baby loss conversation understandably focuses on the immediate experience of grief or on pregnancy after loss. However, there’s often an unspoken assumption that a person will get pregnant again and it will eventually lead to a healthy baby. But that isn't everyone's story. For some of us, there is no subsequent pregnancy or living child, and our experiences are frequently left out of the conversation. In this webinar, I will share my personal journey and reflect on the lasting impact that pregnancy loss has had on my identity, hope, and the future I had imagined.
Together with my fellow speakers, Tanya and Carrie, who will share their own experiences of miscarriage and stillbirth, I hope we can broaden the conversation and create space for those whose lives have been permanently shaped by similar experiences. Living without children after pregnancy and infant loss is part of the baby loss story. Our experiences deserve to be recognised, heard, and included, not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of the pregnancy and baby loss discourse.

PANELLISTS
Aisha Balesaria - UK
World Childless Week Ambassador
Aisha is a freelance writer, speaker and coach. She founded mindbodyrevival_coach after her long fertility journey came to an end. Aisha had multiple
pregnancy losses and more than 11 IVF cycles over a ten-year period before she eventually changed focus, and decided to lean into championing others who are also non-parents whatever their circumstances. Through writing and coaching, Aisha supports those in the thick of their fertility journey and when it ends without a baby. She’s a passionate advocate for endometriosis, baby loss and reproductive health.
When Aisha’s not doing the above, she’s usually navigating pain caused by stage four endometriosis, travelling, brunching or cuddling with her British shorthair, Peaches.
Carrie Hauskens - USA
Carrie is a freelance writer based in Northern California. Her expertise is in writing about embracing the childfree life after infertility and the many tangents that radiate from that experience. Her trademark is vulnerable, funny, and authentic writing.
Tanya Hubbard - Canada
Tanya is a counsellor, coach, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner based in Vancouver, Canada. With a background in Gender Studies and Social Justice, she is passionate about bringing a justice-informed lens to both her clinical work and advocacy.
She supports people navigating a wide range of life experiences, with a particular focus on grief and trauma. Her lived experience of pregnancy loss, fertility treatments, and ultimately not becoming a parent led to a deep commitment to supporting others who are childless not by choice.
When she isn't working, Tanya is exploring nature, trying the latest recipe she discovered on Instagram, spending time with the people she loves, and, more often than not, she’s doing this with her French Bulldog sidekick.
