This is a posthumous award to recognise Nina Thair as a blogger, contributor to World Childless Week and trusted and well respected friend to many within the childless community.
Despite the challenges Nina faced with MS she led her life with joy and finding new adventures until her disability put a stop on everything she loved and she made the decision to end her life her way via Dignitas last year. She showed the strength that we sometimes feel we lack, the independence we sometimes fear and the confidence to say I can take control of my life. So whilst she is not a name everyone will know she is someone we can take inspiration from in acknowledging we all face struggles and how we deal with those challenges can determine how we live.

Nina was so much a part of my childlessness journey, and moving forward from the pain. I first met Nina in October 2021 in-person, and had messaged a few times before that in the Gateway Women Community (now ChildlessCollective). We became friends and she instantly became my supporter. She started meditation, and loved it. We would meet for coffee, and I would be able to talk to her and ask for advice or thoughts on what was going on with me and the classes. She was there as my encouragement, as my support. The thing I am so grateful for, and I so miss - is that she would have confidence in me.
I don't always have confidence in myself (life, childhood, past decisions), but she had SO MUCH confidence in me. She encouraged me in the ideas I had for the classes.
At this time (June/July WCW topics), we would have spoken a lot about submissions - what she was doing, what I was doing, and how the group submission was going. She would have been the one I would have gone to about all things WCW. She loved the week, and loved this community.
Nina had MS but was so emotionally strong. She was the friend everyone needed - someone you could talk to and share, who would give you honest, loving guidance. She did this, not just for me, but for a few friends in the childless community, and for her other friends. She did this, despite all of her physical challenges. Life was not easy for her. The way her MS increased when she realised she would be childless - she took this as a chance to delve deeper into her healing. She was so inspirational.
Nina passed away in November 2025 - her choice, and the last courageous act she managed for herself.
