I am childless by circumstance, not my choice, but my story is complicated. My circumstances include:

• Dysfunctional relationship patterns that meant I didn't find healthy love until my early 40s or marry until I was 48

• Falling in love with a man who didn't want children

• Ambivalence about motherhood because of my own upbringing - watching my mother struggle with two children on her own

• Fear about motherhood due to attachments wounds from my early childhood

• Perhaps a subconscious choice to scupper my chances of having children because I craved freedom and shunned responsibility
