A Letting Go Ceremony
A few years ago, I carried out a private ceremony to mark the loss of my unconceived children.
I released two helium balloons, one for each child. My husband was a witness and participant (he has children and was not grieving). I wrote a script in advance, speaking to and about the children in my heart. I included a poem and music. We wore formal clothes and went for something to eat afterwards, as we do after a funeral. For me, the grieving process took years and still comes up at times.
This ceremony was an essential part of my moving forward.
