Hope, Out Of Reach
I painted this watercolour painting to express emotions around reaching the end of our journey through failed fertility treatment, which can be so hard to put into words.
We were at the end of a long chapter in our lives, and our emotional reserves were exhausted. Our last, best chance to start a family was behind us and we faced coming to terms with a life without children. The cycle of hope and heartbreak that comes with IVF was at an end.
I imaged that hope, which we had held on to for so long, as a golden butterfly, precious and fragile, flying away out of our reach.
