World Childless Week

I've Met You

I wrote a song just about childlessness after stopping treatment a few years ago and finally put it on you tube this year.

It talks about imagining your child that never was, not leaving a legacy and needing to move on

Zoë Walker

How can you miss something that you never had anyway

And how can you cry for the absence of a thing you imagined someday

And how can you long for something you just cannot see

And how can you have a reason when there is no reason to be

I'm broke I'm bruised

I'm halved, I'm fused shut

I have no words I'm not a lot

But I've met you many, many times

in a daydream

on a hopeful day in a shop window in a favourite name

And I've lost you many, many times in a white room in the shake of a head in a single line in a gasp of breath

And I know I have to let you go

Keep on keeping on but there's nothing to keep

Boxes of diaries written that no-one will read

I'm broke I'm bruised

I'm aching, I'm done

I never got the chance to start

or carry on

But I've met you many, many times

in a daydream

on a hopeful day

in a shop window in a favourite name

And I've lost you many many times in a white room in the shake of a head in a single line

in a gasp of breath

And I know I have to let you go

And I know I have to let you go
